Tesla Motors has sued Hoerbiger Automotive Comfort systems who it believes failed to supply working doors for Model X

Tesla Motors would be fighting a legal battle with a European organization. According to Wall Street Journal, the American electric car maker is going to sue the Germany based automotive parts maker, Hoerbiger Automotive Comfort systems following the allegation to supply working doors to the company for Model X car.

The Model X swooping "falcon-wing" doors are one of its signature features, but its manufacturing was difficult. During 2014, CEO Elon Musk believes that Model X is the toughest vehicle to manufacture. Partly due to door and other decisions concerned with engineering, the Model X was delayed by several months. The enterprise first showed the vehicle's prototype in the initial part of 2012, and only began selling the first vehicles to consumers in the later part of the previous year.

The petition reflects on the pain suffered to get those doors right. The California based organization alleges Hoerbiger of misrepresenting its capacity to supply functioning doors, which forced Tesla to switch over to a new vendor in spring last year. It was just some months before it had to sell its first vehicles to consumers. Due to the change at the last moment, the automaker had to make a premium payment to its new vendor for delivering the doors.

Tesla only manufactured 507 Model X vehicles, and delivered 208 of those in the last quarter of the previous year, partly due to the small number of Model X vehicles, the shares of the company dipped in the earlier part of this year.

According to WSJ, the German organization has sought an extra payment from the vehicle maker for getting more money, to proclaim that the automobile manufacturer did not breach its agreements, and for seeking attorneys and damage fees.

Musk and Tesla are not new to legal battles. Vendor Magna Powertrain filed a lawsuit against Tesla earlier in 2008, after the company took the decision to utilize its transmission of any other organization for its first Roadster vehicle (which also got delayed).

Tesla has kept focusing on increasing the production of Model X and states it hopes to manufacture 238 Model X cars on a weekly basis now.
