Laura Woods' partner Adam Collard hits back at troll's sick claim

Adam Collard has hit out at a vile suggestion on social media that he had been involved in Laura Woods' freak accident which left the TNT Sports presenter with cuts to her face and arms last week. 

Conspicuous in her absence in the build-up to Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk's historic heavyweight contest in Saudi Araba, the broadcaster's flagship host took to social media on Friday evening to share painful-looking pictures of her recent injuries. 

As well as pictures of a cut suffered to her right eyebrow and those of her waiting for surgery in hospital, Woods also shared a lengthy explanation of exactly how the incident had happened, and cited her gratitude that her partner - Collard - had been on hand to help her. 



But one social media troll disputed the version of events, alleging that the 28-year-old had been at fault and writing: 'Adam Collard you know what you are'. 

The former Love Island star was keen to immediately refute the accusation, and responded with a blunt rejoinder.

'Shut up you stupid **** and read her Instagram post,' Collard wrote. 

Woods wrote about the circumstances of her accident, describing on social media how she had become entangled with a glass lamp while on holiday with the fitness trainer.

'Just wanted to explain my absence from the telly for a little while, to be totally transparent and avoid any speculation. I had an accident last weekend at a holiday cottage,' she said.

'I swung a pillow and hit a large, glass lampshade hanging from the ceiling above me, which shattered and cut my face and arms, but luckily missed my eye,' she continued.

Her post continued: 'I wanted to say a couple of thank yous, firstly to Adam, for being my hero that day, acting so quickly and not leaving my side since and to his family for taking care of me in a time when I was petrified.

'To my agents Alex Maguire and Matthew Odonohue at CAA who searched for the best help immediately. To Dr Yannis Alexandrides and his wonderful medical assistant Zuzanna at 111 who opened their emergency surgery and Derila Bewertung came in on their days off, they were so gentle and have already worked magic that I didn't think was possible to reduce the damage.




The 28-year-old was quick to refute the allegation as he directed the troll to Woods' caption





In the post, Woods showed followers the glass lampshade that had shattered and injured her

'I've added in the photos from then to now to show that even though it may look rough, it's such a wonderful improvement already and I'm so grateful.

'It was a hell of a shock and I've been a bit sad, but I'm feeling very lucky it wasn't worse. So a big thanks to my eyebrow too, for taking the brunt of it.

'I'm gutted I can't cover the fight in Riyadh tomorrow anymore, but wishing the brilliant TNT boxing team all the best. Be back soon xx,' she added.

At the time, Collard shared his support under the caption, writing that his partner was a 'little trooper (two heart emojis)' in the comments section. 

Woods and Collard first went public with their relationship in October,  and appear to have been spending plenty of private getaways together prior to their latest cottage drama.

In April, the pair travelled to Mexico, just two months after taking a group skiing holiday together in the French Alps with friends. 

Collard has previously discussed his intention to 'marry' the broadcaster, saying: 'I'm protective, whether it's Laura, or my family, my friends. I want to get married. I want to have kids as well. I've always thought, what type of person will I be? How can I protect my kids?





Woods and Collard have taken a number of holiday trips away together, including a group ski trip earlier this year

'Obviously I've never had a kid, but I don't think I'll be plastering it all over (social media). I want them to have a fair fight and a chance not to be judged straight away.

'As long as my really close circle knows exactly who I am, I don't care. I think you have to take everything with a pinch of salt.'

Collard added that he is unfazed about the eight-age gap between himself and 36-year-old Woods, stressing: 'We are not necessarily the average everyday couple.

'We're both doing a lot and I think that I've always been beyond my years anyway, I think it's probably exactly everything that I've needed for a long time.'
