Depending on the species the domestic donkey could be classified as a subspecies within the wild ass or a distinct species.

There are many instances where the dominant culture takes elements of the culture of a minority. This practice, referred to as cultural appropriation can cause resentment from minority members. For example, whether you wear a Native American headdress at a music festival or wearing blackface on Halloween, many Black people feel that this is a form of patronizing behavior.
A dominant group could also adopt elements of minority cultures. However, they may also take advantage of intellectual property belonging to the minority group. This can be done by blackfishing, for example. It is important to consider that people of color have a long history of being marginalized and deprived of rights. For instance, if you see a person of color wearing a costume of blackface, you should consider the history of black people being marginalized.
